RTO - how to get your old booklet based RC book renewed within the state from different RTO office


Declaimer : This is written as per the process i myself went through in various RTO offices while i was getting my work done with out middle man and with out paying any unaccounted money. It may be different that what government has put in their website/software[ they are the main source of information for you] 

This article is useful if you had a booklet based RC book and it expired and you want to renew it from your present place within the same state.

The processes are very very simple:

  1. You need to send a written [ track able ] communication to previous RTO office address stating that your RC book has expired and you need to renew it in say Bangalore so they need to clear the tax flags off in their new Parivahan software.
  2. you may find it difficult to get it done at some point but keep calling and asking for updates regularly with out loosing hopes.
  3. Once they clear the flags you need to visit the RTO office front desk in Bangalore and then apply for renewals
  4. At this point in time you may be asked to work with backend PA office [ Personal assistant for transport officer ] to get it data entry done
  5. Work with such front desk to get data entry done.
  6. Now take form 25, insurance copy, pollution certificate, RC book original, address proof, a file, a binding clip/tag, pan card zerox and put up them very neatly all together with all your request details neatly written on the file front page.
  7. Submit this form in the front desk and get your vehicle inspected [ carry a pen and paper some time they dont have it to take impression of engine and chassis number from your vehicle body ]
  8. Pay the fees and you are all done with acknowledgment

As per the government website :

Procedure

  • Form 25: Duly filled up
  • Registration Certificate in original
  • Pollution Certificate
  • Valid Insurance Certificate
  • Vehicle is then to be produced before the registering authority for inspection.
  • Re-registration Fee is to be paid at the cash counter and receipt for the same will be given.
  • New Registration Certificate will be issued by the department.

RTO - ownership transfer by ourself with out paying any broker

In case if you are looking for transfer of your vehicle from one RTO office to another this blog would be useful.

Following are very simple steps that you can follow:

When usually applied for CC?

  1. If you have relocated to different address and want your vehicle details moved from one RTO to another
  2. If you have purchased a car from owner of one city/place to another city / place
  3. Removal of hypothication after loans are cleared

Steps:
  1. Go to https://parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/ - thanks to Modi government for digitizing the government offices processes. In fact a really really beautiful and wonderful website.
  2. Enter your vehicle number and chassis number [ last 5 digits ]
  3. Apply for CC by selecting radio button on the top and filling required from - to related data
  4. Pay fees online for hypothication etc [ no fees for CC ]
  5. Take print out of the fee paid receipt which will be generated sooner once paid online
  6. Now attach required documents like NOC, insurance, emission test, PAN card zerox, photo ID proof and RC book, Envelope with self written address with postal stamps, and a form for CC 
  7. NOC, CC form etc should be signed by the person/authority from which you are purchasing the vehicle
  8. Once submit all these documents you need to get acknowledgement receipt from RTO office and you are done.
next process:
  1. You will get RC book/card and other details to your home address while NOC etc are transferred from RTO to RTO within you dont need to worry.
  2. Now if you are transferring vehicle to your name then fill form 29, form 30[part -1, 2], insurance copy, pan copy, id/address proof, photos 2-3, emission report, RC book, NOC and stamped postal address envelope in a neatly done folder and submit in the RTO office at front desk.
  3. If you are asked to meet data entry operator just submit your file and visit them again after given amount of time [ no need to pay or worry about data entry its their job ]
  4. Once data entry is done you will be eligible to pay fees online or at counters
  5. Pay fee and take customer copy and visit front desk along with file and you are DONE

Overall transfer of ownership from old owner to new owner happens within Rs. 1000/- or 100 more.
Instead of paying a bribe of Rs. 3500 or 4000/- better you learn and do it your self and educate your neighbors or office friends etc.
