RTO - how to get your old booklet based RC book renewed within the state from different RTO office

Declaimer : This is written as per the process i myself went through in various RTO offices while i was getting my work done with out middle man and with out paying any unaccounted money. It may be different that what government has put in their website/software[ they are the main source of information for you]

This article is useful if you had a booklet based RC book and it expired and you want to renew it from your present place within the same state.

The processes are very very simple:

  1. You need to send a written [ track able ] communication to previous RTO office address stating that your RC book has expired and you need to renew it in say Bangalore so they need to clear the tax flags off in their new Parivahan software.
  2. you may find it difficult to get it done at some point but keep calling and asking for updates regularly with out loosing hopes.
  3. Once they clear the flags you need to visit the RTO office front desk in Bangalore and then apply for renewals
  4. At this point in time you may be asked to work with backend PA office [ Personal assistant for transport officer ] to get it data entry done
  5. Work with such front desk to get data entry done.
  6. Now take form 25, insurance copy, pollution certificate, RC book original, address proof, a file, a binding clip/tag, pan card zerox and put up them very neatly all together with all your request details neatly written on the file front page.
  7. Submit this form in the front desk and get your vehicle inspected [ carry a pen and paper some time they dont have it to take impression of engine and chassis number from your vehicle body ]
  8. Pay the fees and you are all done with acknowledgment
Thanks to new government for making parivahan.gov.in/parivahan/ website which is so much fast, user friendly and makes life simple.
